Nelson's flagship at Trafalgar, and still preserved as a museum ship at Portsmouth. To G&S fans she is best known as the prototype for H.M.S. Pinafore. Gilbert and Sullivan visited the Victory in 1878 and Gilbert made sketches of the rigging and deck arrangements for his forthcoming nautical opera.
